Participant Type *Contestant is an individual who intends to compete in at least one of the twelve (12) arenas of competition via at least one project via a team.Adjudicator is an individual who evaluates projects according to competition criteria; there are three (3) types: Grand Juror, Expo Judge, and Virtual Adjudicator.Observer is an individual who is affiliated with an academic institution who is attending KBI activities for the purpose of education experiences.

Technology Competency Arena(e) of Interest *The International Blockchain Olympiad (IBCOL) is themed around "blockchain" and trust tech which encompasses but not limited to cryptography, L1/L2 protocols, distributed ledger tech (DLT), privacy-enhancing tech (PET), self-sovereign identity (SSI), decentralized identifiers (DID), decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO), decentralized applications (dApp), decentralized physical infrastructures (DePIN), decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFT), and digital assets or asset tokenization.The International Data Science Olympiad (IDSOL) is themed around data science and artificial intelligence (AI), which fundamentally requires data science. Topics include but not limited to machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), data preprocessing, data visualization, explainable AI (XAI), large language models (LLM), natural language processing (NLP), computer vision (CV), reinforcement learning (RL), machine learning operations (MLOps), AI ethics, AI security, and more.

Technical Competency Arena(e) of Interest *The Solution Design stream is for projects with a comprehensive solution addressing real-world challenges, represented by materials as defined by the materials submissions criteria.The Engineering stream is for projects with a comprehensive product design and implementation, demonstrating extensive and exquisite understanding of and the application of tech first principles.

Competition Level Arena(e) of Interest *The Secondary Competition is for projects delivered by teams of exclusively secondary schoolers (ISCED Levels 2-3).The Tertiary Competition is for projects delivered by teams of post-secondary students up to the undergraduate level (ISCED Levels 4-6).The Open Competition is for projects delivered by teams that are not eligible to compete in the Secondary or Tertiary Competition (i.e. all others).
